Erection Pills: Viagra

Particularly older men are at risk of having erection problems stemming from lack of blood flowing to the penis. In 1998 a drug was introduced to help relieve this problem, it has become the most used form of treatment, and is known as Viagra. Sold by Pfizer, it has become a huge success for the company. In this post you will get general information about the drug. It is emphasized that if you decide to move further, it is strongly advised to consult your doctor.

The active drug sold as Viagra by Pfizer is called Sildenafil citrate. The drug was originally developed for treating high blood pressure, while it was not successful for this purpose, the pharmaceutical chemists conducting the clinical trials discovered that it was effective in inducing penile erections.

Viagra, or rather Sildenafil, acts by inhibiting enzymes that regulate the blood flow in the penis. Very simply put, the drug causes the muscles of the arteries to relax, which will increase the inflow of blood, thereby making it easier to obtain an erection. The process is initiated by sexual stimulation, which means that Viagra should not cause a permanent erection.

As with any drug, using Viagra is associated with a risk of adverse side effects. The most common of which are headache, impaired vision, flushing, dyspepsia and nasal congestion. More serious, but very rare, adverse effects are heart attacks, strokes and sudden loss of hearing.

There are certain conditions which will aggravate the risks of using Viagra, in medicine, this is known as contraindications. In this case, they include taking nitric oxide donors, organic nitrites and nitrates, severe decreased liver function, severe impairment of renal function, low blood pressure, recent stroke or heart attack, and hereditary degenerative retinal disorders. Because of the risk of adverse effects and a number contraindications, I will again emphasize that before using Viagra it is strongly advised to consult your doctor. This is not as harmless a drug as some will make it seem.

In the vast majority of western countries Viagra is sold as prescription only. In some countries in South America, for example Venezuela, Viagra is sold over the counter. Some online pharmacies sell Viagra after a simple online consultation. In some countries, particularly India, companies sell generic Viagra online. These can be very dangerous and the consumer can not be sure what product he is receiving, thus health authorities strongly warn against them. They are, obviously, also illegal to import.

The emergence of erection pills has meant improved life quality for thousands of men and couples, it marked a great improvement in the treatment of a serious condition. But these are still drugs and should be treated with respect and care. Before you decide to use them, make sure that your problems doesn't stem form elsewhere, and make sure it is medically advisably.

General Concerns Regarding Erection Problems: What Will Help You Stay Hard?

Erection problems can be devastating for a relationship. It can be damaging to the male partner's pride and it can hurt the female partner's confidence. She might not be able to avoid thoughts like: Don't I turn him on? Am I not attractive to him? Why is he unable to stay hard?

At the same time modern culture emphasizes male virility; a man unable to achieve a lasting, solid erection is viewed as a failure. Porn, and even mainstream media, gives the impression that males are always able to be hard, women need merely give the slightest hint of willingness and the man should be ready to go. For many, especially inexperienced men, this is not the case. Erections can be fragile. The first times the nerves and the insecurities can reac havoc on a mans ability to stay hard. Outside influences can play a part as well. Movies and tv-shows often depict males getting intoxicated to the extreme, so drunk, in fact, that they can't remember the events the following day, but somehow they still achieve an erection effortlessly. In the real world alcohol consumption often makes intercourse very difficult. Even other stimulants, such as cigarettes and coffee, can have a similar effect.

This post will mention a lot of common reasons why some men sometimes find it difficult to stay hard. Remedies will also be mentioned. Finally I hope to expand on each point in later posts.

Sex is a wonderful experience. It is an essential part of life. It is a expression of love and intimacy, and, lets be honest, it feels beyond amazing. For the inexperienced, the first times might not be all you might hope for. Nerves, a million confusing thoughts, the desire to please one's partner, and a thousand other things, might make it difficult to just relax and let the desire and instincts take over. This is very common and very natural. If you have this problem, often termed performance anxiety, and it is affecting your ability to stay hard, it is important not to panic, as it can lead to a vicious cycle, where your fear of not being hard at the right moment, is actually the reason why you are not hard. The only cure is to just relax. Let the instincts take over. Focus on foreplay. On kissing and caressing your partner. In time, as you gain experience and confidence, this problem will diminish.

Another issue worsened by our modern culture is that of stress. If your mind is not relaxed and focused on the moment, achieving an erection might prove difficult. Forget about your job, about commitments, about unpaid bills. You need to let it all go and, again, let instincts and desire take over.

Being unable to perform sexually because of copious amounts of consumed alcohol, is something most have experienced. It might still be a traumatic experience, but probably less so than in most other cases. After all, the cause will probably be obvious, as is the solution. Next time, drink less! However, it is not as widely known that cigarettes and coffee also have an adverse effect on the ability to get, and stay, hard. This is because they stimulate your nervous system. You know how you feel full of energy and jacked up after your morning cup of coffee? Well, this is not exactly helpful when you want an erection, quite the opposite, you want to be relaxed. I guess a theme is emerging, and it is true, relaxing and not over-thinking, staying in the moment, will solve most of the erection problems people face. Of course this is easier said than done.

Not all problems can be solved mentally or be abstaining from stimulants though. If you have a permanent erection problem, that just won't go away, you might have a medical condition. An indication of whether your erection problem is a medical issue, is whether you can get hard when you are by yourself with no pressure and no stimulants. Do you ever have an erection in the morning? If you can't get and never are hard in these situations, if your problem is not that you can get hard but can't maintain the erection, your issue is likely a medical problem. If you suspect this is the case, consult your doctor. This might seem awkward to you, but its only in your head, doctors are professionals and, i promise you, your doctor will have dealt with this numerous times. You are not a unique snowflake. Medical issues can be both direct penile dysfunction, but it can also be other conditions which affect your ability to achieve erection indirectly. An example of the latter is asthma. The response from your doctor will vary accordingly, from prescribing erection pills, such as Viagra, to prescribing a treatment relevant to the disease indirectly affecting you.

I will finish this post by mentioning that you are not alone if you have experienced difficulties staying hard. It is not a subject others are likely to bring up, but it is more common than you think. Erections are fragile. If you have trouble staying hard as you move from foreplay to the actual intercourse, relax and go back to the foreplay, after a while the erection should be back. If the problem is more permanent, consider talking to your doctor. Remember, it is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.
